Statement

Gaby is a Los Angeles based, Nigerian-American oil painter. With a love of travel and storytelling, Gaby’s work seeks to communicate how sharing personal histories of faith, family, and culture have the power to tie us together in community. Both a portrait, and landscape artist, Gaby’s current work explores our connection to real and imagined places. Inspired by a recent trip to her indigenous Ikwerre village in Rivers State, Nigeria, she was stunned at how the beautiful brush, palm trees, and river felt both new and familiar; in many ways mirroring the city where she was born and raised.
